After meeting composer Lin-Manuel Miranda while working on a production of Tick, Tick...Boom! for the Encores! concert series, Odom Jr. accepted the role of Aaron Burr in Manuel's next production, the then little-known Hamilton, which entered workshops in 2014. He then continued the role as the show premiered both Off-Broadway and on Broadway, eventually winning the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2016 for his show-stopping performance. The rest, as they say, is history!
