Ragtime

Why see Ragtime?

Get ready for a musical that captures the dawn of a changing America! Ragtime comes to Fulton Theatre from September 23 to October 18, 2026.

It's Ragtime!

The winner of four Tonys during its 1998 Broadway debut production, Ragtime is a grand diorama of early 20th Century American life, featuring appearances from some of the most important figures of the day, including Houdini and Henry Ford, and all shot through with the music of ragtime. It was most recently revived on The Great White Way in 2025, where it once again garnered glowing critical notices.

Terence McNally (It's Only a Play) penned the book, while music and lyrics come courtesy of Stephen Flaherty (Seussical) and Lyn Ahrens (Rocky The Musical) respectively. Catch this toe-tapping and epic musical at your local theatre!

WHAT IS RAGTIME ABOUT?

Ragtime paints a picture of American life at the beginning of the 20th century, by weaving together the stories of three separate and very different families. There's the upper class white Protestant family living in New York, the African-American family headed by ragtime musician Coalhouse Walker Jr. and the poor European migrants Tateh and his daughter, who arrive at Ellis Island looking for a better life. This patchwork of characters cross paths and overlap with each other in surprising ways, their seemingly disparate strands coming together in a profound depiction of the American experience.

Fulton's RAGTIME

A smash hit lands in Lancaster as RAGTIME opens at the Fulton. This lavish production expertly directed by Alton Fitzgerald White/choreographed by Lorna Ventura comes on the heels of the recent Lincoln Center revival and definitely stands its own. The huge cast (a treat these days) handles the material effortlessly and when they all sing as a group the musicality shines. The principal cast is stacked, with broadway's Ben Fankhauser bringing beautiful depth to Tateh's journey. As Coalhouse, Erick D. Patrick carries intensity and gentility making his eventual fate all the more tragic, and Laurie Veldheer's "Back to Before" will leave you jumping from your seat to applaud. The ensemble too brims with star-power: Callie Anna Henrysen is delicious as Evelyn Nesbit, Alex Stone is unabashedly fierce as Willie Conklin, and Cody Gerszewski is a comedic chameleon of the highest caliber. Do not miss this seldom done show as it drives off into the sunset mid October. ... Read more
